R. Brooks Hanson serves as Deputy Editor for the Physical Sciences for Science, the weekly journal of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). In this position, Hanson supervises the recruitment and management of all scholarly articles within this broad area. He works closely with the Editor-in-Chief and Executive Editor to develop and implement policies and procedural changes. He interacts with scientists around the world to stay abreast of current developments and recruit research and review papers. Hanson earned a B.S. from Bucknell University and a Ph.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles and conducted post-doctoral research at the Smithsonian Institution. His areas of interest include geology, geophysics, geochemistry, planetary science, hydrology, paleontology, anthropology, archaeology, numerical modeling, science policy, and scientific publishing.
