Dennis O'Brien

Dennis O'Brien

Dennis O'Brien was born in Scranton, Pa., and after graduating from American University in 1977, he wrote for newspapers in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Georgia and Connecticut before he was hired by The Baltimore Sun in 1987. He has been a reporter for 25 years and has had a number of beats, including police, local governments and schools. O'Brien also periodically works as an editor at the paper. While covering courts and legal issues in the 1990s, he went to the University of Baltimore Law School at night, graduated and passed the Maryland Bar. He has been one of three science writers at the The Sun for the past year. O'Brien is also married and has two children.
