Pamela S. Zurer

Pamela S. Zurer is Managing Editor of Chemical & Engineering News, the weekly newsmagazine of the 163,000-member American Chemical Society. Pam is responsible for overseeing the editorial content and the production of the magazine's print edition. While in the final stages of her doctoral research in organic chemistry, Pam spent a summer working as a newspaper reporter under a science journalism fellowship sponsored by the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Based on that experience, she joined the staff of C&EN in 1981, two days after her dissertation defense. She served as a reporter covering numerous beats before being named Assistant Managing Editor for Science, Technology, and Education in 1995. She has held her current position since June 2003. Pam is a lifetime member of the Girls Scouts of America who enjoys gardening, bicycling, and quilting.
