The Flexible Action Fund

AAAS is funded through membership dues, grants, and revenue from our flagship journal, Science. But almost all of these sources are restricted to supporting specific programs and are not available to undertake new initiatives or enhance existing programs. The Flexible Action Fund provides AAAS with the only source of flexible, unrestricted funding that allows us to be innovative and respond rapidly to critical challenges as they arise.

Gifts to the Flexible Action Fund help AAAS to take advantage of timely opportunities to promote science and address key goals such as improving science and math education; analyze legislation and funding decisions and talk to policymakers and the public about their impact; build international relations through "science diplomacy," when it's needed most; and provide training for scientists and engineers to become well-versed in communicating complex ideas to a general audience.
