Charitable Gift Annuities

Charitable gift annuities, often referred to as a "life income gift," can be established with a minimum contribution of $10,000. You will receive an immediate tax deduction for the full amount of the gift. In exchange for your gift to AAAS, you or your designated beneficiary will receive a specified annual income. The amount you receive is based on you or your beneficiary's age. A portion of the payments may be tax-free. If you are over 50 years of age, you can begin receiving annuity payments immediately. Upon the deaths of all beneficiaries, AAAS will use your gift for the purpose that you have specified.
If you are under age 50 or prefer to have your annuity payments at a later date (such as retirement), you can arrange for a deferred gift annuity. You still can claim an immediate charitable gift deduction, and the annual income will be higher when the payments begin.
By establishing a charitable gift annuity, you will become a member of the "1848 Society," our recognition club for those who have elevated AAAS to the level of family by including us in their estate plans. We are deeply honored and grateful to receive this distinction and would like the opportunity to recognize your generosity during your lifetime. Of course, if you prefer this information to remain confidential, we will honor your wishes and include you as an anonymous member.
To request specific information based on your age and the amount of the annuity, please contact AAAS's Director of Development Juli Staiano by e-mail or by calling 202-326-6636 or 1-800-215-1969. All information will be treated with strict confidence.
