Position: Senior Program Associate

Successful candidate will serve as outreach program liaison for Science Careers. Responsibilities will include working with the marketing and sales staff, targeting partners in academia and industry to produce career education outreach events for scientists in North America; organizing and running events with a major focus on expansion of the Science Careers brand to key audiences by providing careers education opportunities (e.g., grant writing, basics of scientific publishing for researchers, interviewing skills, etc.) in small and large group settings at company facilities, universities and at conferences. Key markets include academia in life science areas and industry, including bioprocessing.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to organizing workshops, presentations and panels in North America (possible events in other parts of the Americas) for PhD students, postdocs and working professionals in the biotech industry; creating all collateral (with vendors, or in house) and managing marketing of the event to jobseekers and potential sponsors, including promotion and announcement efforts in print and online, collateral; writing reports on each event to team and key managers; mantaining detailed database of contact names; working with the recruitment advertising sales manager and recruitment ad sales manager to identify partners, collaborators and potential sponsors for events; especially in the bioprocessing industry to help initiate and grow relationships, sponsorships and ad sales in the area; managing projects including program preparation, logistics and administration; sourcing speakers for events; working with vendors to produce evaluation of events and review with senior management; attending major science events, careers and recruitment fairs in North America; making sales calls with sales team as needed; working with Marketing Manager and UK Manager to produce career focused booklets for selling purposes, i.e., sponsorships; obtaining reciprocal outreach links to the Science Careers site. This position requires 25% to 35% travel.

Qualifications: Position requires extensive university or college level training leading to a Bachelor's degree (life science), although a PH.D. is highly desired (a Master's degree in education with an emphasis and experience in career training will also be considered); five to ten years related experience; experience organizing and running career events preferred; basic marketing experience ( planning and implementing promotions for events); poised and professional presenter; ability to present to large groups and run events with multiple speakers; team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills; extremely organized and a self starter; computer skills (Microsoft Office and database); ability to travel 25% to 35% of the time is required.
