A AAAS S&T Policy Fellowships symposium hosted by the Health Policy Affinity Group.

This symposium focuses on the history and development of the ACA as well as the how health insurance has changed since its initiation. There will be a focus on personal costs of medical care for young patients with chronic conditions despite having medical insurance. The goal of the symposium is to stimulate discussion regarding the challenges in the current healthcare system payment structure, future reforms that are still needed, and changes that are occurring in the light of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
