Internship Opportunity

The Program
The Office of Government Relations conducts an integrated program of activities designed to provide timely, objective information to Members of Congress and their staff on current science and technology issues.
The Internship

The Office currently offers spring and summer internships for qualified undergraduate or graduate students. Activities may include attending hearings, writing articles for our newsletter, Science and Technology in Congress, preparing and maintaining issue briefs published on the Web, and assisting with other activities, such as congressional briefings.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn about science and technology policy, and to gain experience working with Congress and legislative issues.

The spring internship is a part-time, unpaid position. The summer internship is full-time and includes a stipend. We no longer offer an internship in the fall.

Best consideration will be given to those who apply by October 15 for the spring internship and February 15 for the summer internship.
Requirements
  • An interest in the intersection of science, technology, and public policy.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly in writing for popular audiences.
  • Strong academic background. All majors will be considered, with priority given to the natural and social sciences, and engineering.
To Apply Send a cover letter, a resume, and a writing sample of no more than 600 words by email to congress_center@aaas.org. For the subject line, please type "GR Internship."
