STEM Education
Foundations for success in science and technology depend on improving science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, from pre-school to graduate school. With this in mind, the Obama Administration's science plan includes $1.5 billion in funding over the next 5 years to enhance STEM education. Many countries are making similar investments. Invest in the future by supporting the scientists of tomorrow.
Naturally Obsessed
Sponsor the viewing of a fascinating documentary—"Naturally Obsessed: The Making of a Scientist"—in the Exhibit Hall. The film offers a penetrating view of life in a lab, provides unique insights into biological research, and honestly portrays the quid-pro-quo of the apprentice system, by which aspiring scientists work under a master scientist at the frontiers of biomedical research, hoping that their contributions will earn them a Ph.D. degree. The film is shot at the Shapiro lab at the Columbia University Medical Center in a way that the lay person can easily understand. It presents a picture of the lab's work toward paving the way for a new generation of "designer drugs."

- Announcement in the Program Book
American Junior Academy of Sciences Poster Session and Formal Dinner (SOLD)
