2011 AAAS ANNUAL MEETING

17-21 February • Washington, D.C.
Walter E. Washington Convention Center

Science Without Borders

The AAAS Annual Meeting brings together an exceptional array of speakers addressing some of the most crucial and timely areas of science, technology, engineering, education, and policy-making. The meeting is one of the most widely recognized and reported interdisciplinary scientific events, and typically includes up to 10,000 participants and hundreds of members of the national and international media.

The Call for Symposium Proposals for the 2010 meeting closed on Tuesday, April 29, 2009. To receive notifications about the 2010 Program, send an e-mail message to meetings@aaas.org with the following text in the subject line: 2010 Updates. The Call for Symposium Proposals for the 2011 meeting will open in January 2010. To receive a notification when it opens, send an e-mail message to meetings@aaas.org with the following text in the subject line: 2011 Updates. Include your name and affiliation in the body of the message. You will receive updates only about the 2011 meeting.

The AAAS Annual Meeting Scientific Program Committee is particularly interested in sessions that highlight the theme. Almost any topic in science and technology can be related to it. Moreover, the Committee will consider proposals that are not directly related if they involve ground-breaking areas of research, new and exciting developments, and cross-cutting activities in support of science, technology, and education. Symposium proposal organizers are encouraged to be creative and to focus on the interdisciplinary nature of the AAAS Annual Meeting.

The Program Committee also underscores the fact that a successful symposium proposal is characterized by interesting topics that are thoughtfully developed and include capable and articulate presenters from a broad range of institutions who are representative of the diversity of science and society. Authors are also asked to carefully follow the instructions for submitting their proposals, which will be scored for completeness and clarity during the review process.
