Air and Rail Transportation
The convention center and nearby hotels are located downtown. The Metrorail stop for the convention center is Mt Vernon Square 7th Street-Convention Center on the Yellow and Green lines. Travelers should consult the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority for more bus and rail information.
Washington, DC is serviced by three airports. Almost all major domestic and international airlines can be found at one of the three airports below:

Shared transportation: Super Shuttle
For $9.00, travelers can take the Washington Flyer Coach bus to the West Falls Church Metro station (Orange line). Buses run every 30 minutes.

Travelers can take the BWI Express Bus to the Greenbelt Metro station for $3. Buses run every 40 minutes.
Travelers can also take the MARC Train from the BWI Rail Station to Union Station in Washington and then board Metrorail.

Metrorail and Metrobus are among the safest, cleanest, and most efficient ways to get around Washington, DC. For a comprehensive map of our Metrorail subway system and hours of operation go to www.wmata.com.
Due to maintenance work, from 10 p.m. Friday, 18 February to closing on Monday, 21 February, Metro will operate free shuttle buses between the Metro Center, Federal Triangle, Smithsonian, and L'Enfant Plaza Metrorail stations. DC has recently transitioned from a zone taxi fare system to a standard meter system. The base rate is $3.00, plus 25 cents for every 1/6th of a mile and for every minute stopped in traffic or traveled under 10 miles per hour. Surcharges for additional passengers and rush hour travel also apply. The maximum fare for all trips within the District is $19.
Average taxi fares from the Walter E. Washington Convention Center to some of the more popular areas of the city:
- Georgetown - $8.00
- National Mall - $6.00
- U.S. Capitol - $5.00
- National Zoo - $8.00
