Meet Us in San Francisco!
The largest general scientific
society in the world
On 20 September 1848, the first meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science welcomed 87 members of the nascent American scientific community.
Today, 120,000 AAAS members and weekly subscribers and 262 affiliated organizations in 130 countries participate in the largest interdisciplinary scientific and engineering society in the world, working to advance science for the benefit of all people.
The Associations peer-reviewed weekly publication, Science, which was founded by Thomas Edison, is among the worlds most prestigious and most cited science journals.
