The FAFG has exhumed and identified bodies from massacre sites throughout Guatemala and around the world. The organization has carried out hundreds of exhumations, identifying over 2,000 victims of Guatemala’s 35-year civil war. Over the past three years, these scientists have faced increased threats and harassment from individuals believed to have ties to the Guatemalan military. Despite the danger, FAFG continues its vital work. FAFG Director Freddy Peccerelli will be at the event to accept the honor on behalf of his colleagues. This event is open to all Annual Meeting participants, reporters and the general public.
