Philip Rubin to Take Over Carl Wieman's OSTP Role

AAAS member PhilipRubin,senior scientist at Yale's Haskins Laboratories and more recently, AssistantDirector for Social, Behavioral, and Economic Science at the WhiteHouse Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP),has been named OSTP's Principal Assistant for Science, taking over theduties of Nobel laureate Carl Wieman, who resigned as Associate Director for Scienceon June 2.

Rubin, a neuroscientist, is best known for his research on articulatory synthesis.

In his role as the White House coordinator on neuroscience research, Rubin has lead an inter-agency working group that will coordinate federal research in brain development, cognition, disease and injury.
