AAAS Announces Fellowships for Young Reporters in China
Chinese translation of information on AAAS Fellowships for Young Reporters in China available.
Young reporters working for Chinese news organizations, particularly those in China, are invited to submit their original science-related news coverage to AAAS, the non-profit science society.
Reporters who submit the best original print or broadcast reporting will be selected to attend and cover the AAAS Annual Meeting in Seattle, Washington, in February 2004. AAAS will cover all travel, lodging and meal costs for winners.
Ten promising young reporters (under 30 years of age) will be selected to win the new AAAS Fellowships for Reporters in Developing Regions.
Winning entries will be published on a new Foreign Language Portal on EurekAlert! (www.eurekalert.org). In addition, winners will be invited to cover the AAAS Annual Meeting and post breaking-news coverage to EurekAlert! in February 2004.
To apply for this AAAS Fellowship program, please submit the following materials by the deadline of 30 November, 2003:
A completed application form (download in English or Chinese).
At least one, and up to three original science-related news stories, published or broadcast between 30 November, 2002 and 30 November 2003.
NOTE AAAS will only consider work that is original. You must verify that each submission is your work and does not contain materials previously reported by others.Documentation to show that you are under 30 years of age.
Proof that you are a working reporter, such as a business card.
A cover letter indicating why you would benefit by attending and reporting on the 2004 AAAS Annual Meeting.
Original print stories and broadcast transcripts may be submitted in Chinese. AAAS will invite four independent, working reporters who are fluent in Chinese to review all submissions. Materials will be evaluated to determine the accuracy of scientific information, as well as the integrity of the news content of each story.
