Starting in mid-June AAAS and Science began posting a site for kids on EurekAlert!, the AAAS science news Web site.

This week's issue reports on a Science study from the 4 July 2003 issue that examines whether crabs can adjust to warming ocean waters, much like bath water can feel really hot to us in the beginning, but then we get used to it. Ecologist Jonathan Stillman discovered that one crab species, found along the shores of the Northern Gulf of California, is probably already having trouble getting used to the warmer water that it now lives in.

Watching how organisms respond to increasing temperatures can help scientists more clearly see the direct impacts that climate change has on life across the globe.
