AAAS Takes Part in Initiative to Create Digital Library

AAAS's Project 2061 is working with the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA) to create a digital video library that will link a rich collection of science education materials to specific learning goals. The library will allow K-12 educators to search for resources "in ways that make sense to them," according to Matthew Schneps, director of the Science Education Department's science media group at CfA.

The project is funded under the National Science Foundation's National Science, Mathematics, Engineering, and Technology Education Digital Library (NSDL) program, which aims to establish a national digital library that will constitute an online network of learning environments and resources for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education at all levels.

More information on the collaboration is available in an interview with Schneps, published in the Summer 2003 issue of 2061 Today.
