AAAS President-Elect Shirley Ann Jackson has been named as one of eight candidates for a reconstituted board of directors at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). The announcement was made by NYSE Interim Chairman and CEO John S. Reed on Nov. 5, as part of an overall package of proposals to restructure how the exchange is governed.

President Jackson, president of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, would join Madeleine K. Albright, Herbert M. Allison Jr., Euan D. Baird, Marshall N. Carter, James S. McDonald, Robert B. Shapiro, and Sir Dennis Weatherstone on the new NYSE Board.

Members of the NYSE are scheduled to vote on the proposed governance changes and new board of directors on Nov. 18.
