Science. It's all around us.
Discover it together.
Waving the Banner of Science
Look around. Discover. Bring science to life. Enrich what you experience today and use this understanding to help science and society work together for a better tomorrow.
AAAS is encouraging parents and children to discover science together by observing the world around us, asking questions, and seeking answers. These AAAS web resources for families, teachers, and children provide an expanding universe of intriguing activities:
- Science for Kids: Science news stories for kids are posted every Thursday afternoon.
- Kinetic City Super Crew: Follow the adventures of this team of science sleuths on public radio and XM Satellite Radio, or catch their virtual adventures on-line.
- Science NetLinks: Lessons, tools, resources, and benchmarks for K-12 science educators.
- Science Books & Films: The only critical review journal of books, magazines and electronic media for all sciences and all ages.
- Science Update/Why is it?: Our national commercial radio feature, with the latest science news and the answers to listeners' questions.
- EurekAlert!: Features breaking news about science, health and technology from 500+ participating research organizations; also includes special features on marine science, nanotechnology and other science topics.
- Complete Listing: A complete listing of sites for educators, children, families, and communities.
Broadening the Reach of Science
We're working to increase public understanding and appreciation of science and technology worldwide.
- AAAS and its journal, Science, reach nearly 140,000 members and subscribers around the globe.
- AAAS activities, from fostering scientific cooperation to promoting human rights and improving science education, touch all corners of the world.
- A new ongoing series of promotions emphasizes the importance of science in everyday life. Last month, we launched radio sponsorships on the U.S. National Public Radio (NPR) network. We hung the first set of public service billboard banners, shown above.
- This public outreach effort will grow with future endeavors. Join us in discovering the science around us. Together, we can reach for the stars.
