Nobel Laureate David Baltimore To Serve As AAAS President-Elect

Nobel laureate David Baltimore, a biologist and president of Caltech, has been chosen to serve as president-elect of AAAS beginning 21 February, at the close of the 2006 Annual Meeting.

At that time, the current president-elect, John Holdren, will begin a one-year term as AAAS President. Holdren is director of the Woods Hole Research Center, as well as Teresa and John Heinz Professor of Environmental Policy and director of the Science, Technology and Public Policy Program at Harvard University.

The current president, Gilbert S. Omenn, will begin a one-year term as chairman of the AAAS Board of Directors at the close of the Annual Meeting. Omenn is professor of internal medicine, human genetics and public health at the University of Michigan.
