U.S. Federal Workers Can Aid Science Innovation With Donations to AAAS
|
U.S. government employees can encourage innovation in science and engineering by making contributions to AAAS in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) beginning 1 September.
By selecting #9850 in the CFC's national/international charity lists under the Campaigns link, federal employees who join in the philanthropy drive will be giving to the world's largest general science and technology organization, joining an effort to advance science and serve society globally on critical issues including education, national security, science diplomacy and public policy.
“Through the convenience of payroll deduction, federal employees have the opportunity to contribute to the AAAS Fund for Excellence which is the primary source of funding for the creation of all sorts of innovative programs and activities,” said Princess Gamble, manager of development at AAAS. “These funds allow the association to proactively address the needs of the scientific community while sustaining vital existing programs.”
Each year, more than 300 CFC campaigns throughout the country and internationally help to raise millions of dollars. Pledges made by federal donors during the campaign season from 1 September to 15 December support eligible non-profit organizations like AAAS that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world. Federal employees can find AAAS in the listing of national/international organizations published in each CFC local campaign brochure.
All of the contributions go into AAAS’s Fund for Excellence, which assists AAAS in responding to critical issues in science, engineering and technology.
