News From the 2011 World Science Forum
The 5th World Science Forum brought more than 500 science and policy leaders from 105 countries to Budapest, Hungary, from 17-19 November for presentations and talks under the theme: “The Changing Landscape of Science: Challenges and Opportunities.” The topics ranged from population growth and food security to brain research and nurturing young scientists, but most of the presentations also featured a strong element on international cooperation in addressing challenges. The biennial Forum is organized and hosted by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, with support from UNESCO; the International Council for Science (ICSU); the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS); the European Academies Science Advisory Council (EASAC); and AAAS.
