The office manages AAAS’s international institutional relationships, supports the internationalization of AAAS, and advances the AAAS goals of providing leadership in international science cooperation, science diplomacy, and science, technology and security policy.
AAAS's mission is to “advance science, engineering, and innovation throughout the world for the benefit of all people." The Office of International and Security Affairs (OISA) supports this mission by managing the association's international institutional relationships, informing the internationalization of AAAS, and advancing the AAAS goals of providing leadership in international science cooperation, science diplomacy, and science, technology and security policy. OISA supports AAAS's chief international officer in advising AAAS leadership on all aspects of global engagement and activities and the office hosts the AAAS Center for Science Diplomacy.
OISA was formed in January 2015 from the merger of the International Office and the Center for Science, Technology and Security Policy.
