Robert Harper III
Robert Harper manages partnerships with federal host agencies and offices facilitating day-to-day coordination of fellows in the HEHS program area. This entails conducting the selection and placement processes; monitoring and reporting on fellowship activities; and serving as a liaison and guide to fellows and their mentors. In addition, Robert contributes to planning and conducting orientation sessions, participates in outreach and recruitment efforts.
He began his career in professional development and international higher education by teaching English and training ESL instructors in Kurume, Japan. Robert has worked in Georgetown University's MBA Admissions and Student Services office, and for the Institute of International Education as a program officer for the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology Scholarship Program, where he recruited and mentored graduate students and doctoral candidates. Prior to joining the AAAS Fellowships team in 2012, he held the position of senior business processes manager for the Fulbright Scholar Program, where he worked closely with the State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs to facilitate the program's goals of internationalizing university campuses and promoting international academic exchange.
Robert completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Central Florida in foreign languages, and has taken courses toward an M.Ed. in higher education leadership. He is a volunteer adult ESL and technology literacy teacher. Robert also enjoys international travel and is trying his best to learn Russian.
