Chitra Kalyandurg manages the AAAS Fellowships partnership with USAID offices in Washington and at overseas missions. She also manages the Global Health & Development Fellowships for alumni at The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This entails day-to-day coordination of fellows; conducting selection and placement processes; monitoring and reporting on fellowship activities; and serving as a liaison and guide to fellows and their mentors. In addition, Chitra contributes to planning and conducting orientation sessions and participates in outreach and recruitment efforts.
She joined the Fellowships staff in 2010, with more than six years of non-profit marketing, education and grant writing experience. Chitra’s previous positions included working in K-12 engineering outreach at the American Society for Engineering Education, managing education programs at Arena Stage, and as an independent marketing and fundraising consultant to performing arts organizations.
Chitra holds a bachelor's degree in communications studies from New York University. She is a nationally recognized performer and choreographer in the south Indian dance style of Kuchipudi.
