Applicants must receive a doctoral-level degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Ph.D., M.D., Ed.D.) prior to the start of the fellowship. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate exceptional competence in an area of child development research, must be a member of SRCD, and must be a U.S. citizen. Both early-career and advanced professionals are encouraged to apply.
Online applications require: (1) a statement of interest (1,000 word maximum) that describes the applicant's background and qualifications for the fellowship, basis for interest in the fellowship, including policy areas or issues of interest and skills to be acquired, and career goals, including how the fellowship would support those goals; (2) three letters of recommendation; and (3) a current C.V.
It is recommended that applicants apply for the fellowship best suited to their interests and goals. However, some applicants choose to apply for both the Executive Branch and Congressional Fellowships. In this situation, applicants should submit a separate statement of interest for each.
