The Center for Public Engagement with Science and Technology is currently booking workshops for spring and summer 2014. The Communicating Science: Tools for Scientists and Engineers workshops are specifically designed for researchers who want to improve how they communicate their research to the general public.
Our workshops focus on a range of communication topics, including working with reporters, using social media effectively, and practicing presentation skills. Goals include creating conversation among participants about their communication experiences and enabling participants to create an effective message that they can use for future communication opportunities.
In addition, we have recently developed a workshop that focuses exclusively on online science communication. We discuss the current internet landscape, including social media platforms, and the latest research behind online science communication. Researchers have the opportunity to think about their website and social media presence, and also practice writing effective online communication.
