Typical Activities in Support of Government:

• Review and evaluate scientific and technical proposals and reports
• Assist in identifying issues, options, and information which relate to policy
• Conduct site visits to academic institutions and industry
• Developing technical concepts and research proposal ideas

Typical Activities in Support of Education:

• Advise on curriculum enrichment
• Provide career guidance in science and engineering
• Judge research projects and competitions
• Mentor and tutor students
• Act as reviewers for AAAS' Science Books & Films (SB&F)

Typical Activities in Support of Communities:

• Serve as docents in museums
• Judge science competitions
• Provide technical expertise to public service organizations
