The International Office of the American Association of Science (AAAS) develops partnerships and maintains relationships between AAAS and leading scientific organizations world-wide, including foreign government agencies and non-governmental actors. Our overarching goal is to create linkages and to facilitate new initiatives that advance the shared mission of advancing science and serving society.

EUROPE"BILAT-USA" and "Link2US" Projects
AAAS has undertaken two new projects, BILAT-USA and Link2US, in an effort to foster international cooperation among EU and U.S. researchers. Begun under the auspices of The 7th Framework Programme (FP7) of the European Commission, AAAS will be working with three European agencies in order to complete the projects. Both projects had their kickoffs in October 2009 and seek to EU-U.S. S&T cooperation through information sharing, dialogue, and network formation among the different stakeholders on both sides of the Atlantic and in the scientific research and policy communities.

Swedish Minister Visits AAAS
On February 4, 2010, Swedish Minister for Higher Education and Research, Dr. Tobias Krantz visited AAAS and called on the United States and Europe to increase scientific cooperation and strengthen financial support for innovation.
