1. matsuda1.mov (1.1 MB)
Movement of magnetic vortices around defects (Figure 5 of Matsuda et al.). Sample is cooled to 4.5 kelvin and the magnetic field is 80 gauss. The vortices can be seen flowing around the defects (dark spots) and occasionally being trapped by the defects.
2. matsuda2.mov (1.8 MB)
Closely packed vortices forming lattice domains (Figure 6 of Matsuda et al.). Sample was held at a magnetic field of 180 gauss and cooled to 5.0 kelvin. The magnetic field was then reduced to 85 gauss to allow the lattice domains to relax.
3. matsuda3.mov (0.9 MB)
Lattice of magnetic vortices at 7.5 kelvin.
4. matsuda4.mov (0.8 MB)
Lattice of magnetic vortices at 8.2 kelvin.
5. matsuda5.mov (0.6 MB)
Lattice of defects at 10.1 kelvin where magnetic vortices have disappeared.
