Dr. Norman P. Neureiter

Dr. Norman P. Neureiter is the recipient of the AAAS Philip Hauge Abelson Prize.  He is honored for his substantial contributions in building more effective relationships between the diplomatic and the scientific communities and in increasing both communities’ awareness of the importance of science and its value in international statecraft.

Dr. John Allen Paulos

Dr. John Allen Paulos is the recipient of the AAAS Award for Public Understanding of Science and Technology.  He is honored for his substantial contributions in promoting the pleasures of mathematics to large audiences.

 

AAAS Award for International Scientific Cooperation

Dr. Mahabir P. Gupta

Dr. Mahabir P. Gupta is the recipient of the AAAS Award for International Scientific Cooperation.  He is honored for his continuous efforts in the promotion of international scientific cooperation in the Ibero-American countries and for the study and utilization of biodiversity as a source of novel pharmaceuticals for the benefit of all people.

 

AAAS Scientific Freedom and Responsibility Award

Dr. Walter Reich

Dr. Walter Reich is the recipient of the AAAS Scientific Freedom and Responsibility Award.  He is honored for his longstanding devotion to human rights issues, particularly his role in making known the abuses of psychiatry in the Soviet Union and spearheading an international effort to condemn such practices.

 

AAAS Mentor Award

Dr. Michael F. Summers

Dr. Michael F. Summers is the recipient of the AAAS Mentor Award.  He is honored for his contributions in mentoring students from underrepresented groups and leadership in promoting Ph.D. careers for underrepresented groups in science and engineering.

 

AAAS Mentor Award for Lifetime Achievement

Dr. Carlos G. Gutièrrez

Dr. Carlos G. Guitièrrez is the recipient of the AAAS Mentor Award for Lifetime Achievement.  He is honored for substantial contributions in mentoring students from underrepresented groups and leadership in promoting Ph.D. careers for underrepresented groups in chemistry and the biosciences.
