This daylong forum will assist the House Oceans Caucus to develop a policy framework on the following four topics: Biology, Pollution, National Security, and Governance. Within each broad issue area are targeted topics for discussion at the conference. They include:
In addition to the four topical areas, keynote presentations from scientific experts will add to the deliberations throughout the day. Keynote speakers who have agreed to participate in the event include Dr. Sylvia Earle, leading marine biologist and author of Sea Change- A Message of the Oceans; Dr. Robert Ballard, noted researcher and president of the Institute for Exploration; and Jean-Michel Cousteau, famed oceanographer and explorer.
