Advocacy Groups

Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research Funding
A coalition in support of increased funding for the National Institutes of Health.

Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC)
The Association of American Medical Colleges is a non-profit association that has as its purpose the improvement of the nation's health through the advancement of medical schools and teaching hospitals. As an association of medical schools, teaching hospitals, and academic societies, the AAMC works with its members to set a national agenda for medical education, biomedical research, and health care, and assists its members by providing services at the national level that facilitate the accomplishment of their missions.

Association of American Universities (AAU)
The association serves its members by assisting them in developing national policy positions on issues that relate to academic research and graduate and professional education. AAU also provides them with a forum for discussing a broad range of other institutional issues, such as undergraduate education.

Coalition for National Science Funding (CNSF)
CNSF is an alliance of organizations united by a concern for the future vitality of the national science, mathematics, and engineering enterprise. CNSF supports the goal of increasing the national investment in the National Science Foundation's research and education programs in response to the unprecedented scientific, technological, and economic opportunities facing the United States.

Coalition for National Security Research (CNSR)
CNSR is a broadly-based coalition united by a commitment to a stronger defense science and technology base. Participants include scientific, engineering, mathematical and behavioral societies, academic institutions, and industrial associations. The Coalition strongly supports DOD’s S&T programs across all defense organizations, especially those defense research programs performed in our nation’s universities.

Coalition for the Advancement of Medical Research (CAMR)
CAMR is comprised of nationally-recognized patient organizations, universities, scientific societies, foundations, and individuals with life-threatening illnesses and disorders, advocating for the advancement of breakthrough research and technologies in regenerative medicine - including stem cell research and somatic cell nuclear transfer - in order to cure disease and alleviate suffering.

Joint Steering Committee for Public Policy
The Joint Steering Committee for Public Policy (JSC) is a coalition of three basic biomedical research societies representing more than 20,000 researchers in the fields of genetics, cell biology, biochemistry and molecular biology. The JSC was formed in 1990 to bring scientists together to advocate for federal funding for basic biomedical research.

National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges (NASULGC)
Founded in 1887, the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges (NASULGC) is the nation's oldest higher education association. Dedicated to supporting excellence in teaching, research and public service, NASULGC has been in the forefront of educational leadership nationally for over a century.

Research!America
Research!America's mission is to make medical and health research a much higher national priority. Research!America is a national not-for-profit, membership-supported, public education and advocacy alliance. It was founded in 1989.

The Science Coalition
The mission of The Science Coalition, representing more than 400 member organizations, is to expand and strengthen the federal government’s investment in university-based scientific, medical, engineering and agricultural research. Sustained support for research across the entire range of scientific disciplines is the most important step the nation can take to maintain America’s position at the forefront of scientific discovery, technological innovation, and economic growth in the 21st century.
