Time to Abandon Darwin? The Challenge from Intelligent Design22 May 2003
Evolution's most recent challenger is a movement known as "Intelligent Design." Arguing that it is possible to detect design in biological systems, advocates of this movement argue they are advancing a new scientific theory that provides an explanation of the complexity and diversity of living organisms superior to Darwinian evolution. I will critically examine the scientific claims of this movement, and inquire as to their theological meaning and significance.
