Evidence and Cosmology: What we have learned from NASA's cosmic radiation probe19 February 2004
The cosmic microwave background gives us a detailed picture of the Universe before atoms, stars and galaxies some 14 billion years ago. Encoded in its tiny variations in intensity are information about the past, present and future of the Universe. It also provides one of the strongest pieces of evidence for the big bang cosmology. This lecture will discuss contemporary cosmological theory, especially in relation to the findings of the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe. The implications of current cosmological theory for religious thought will also be discussed.
