Ronald Cole-Turner is the H. Parker Sharp Professor of Theology
and Ethics at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, a position that relates
theology and ethics to developments in science and technology. He is an
ordained minister of the United Church of Christ. He serves on the Advisory
Board of the John Templeton Foundation and on the Advisory Board (Executive
Committee) of the Program of Dialogue on Science, Ethics, and Religion
of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, where he recently
co-chaired a two-year study of the ethical and religious implications
of human germ line modification. Prof. Cole-Turner is the author of The
New Genesis: Theology and the Genetic Revolution (1993), and co-author
(with Brent Waters) of Pastoral Genetics: Theology and Care at the
Beginning of Life (1996), which was awarded a 1997 Prize for Outstanding
Books in Theology and Science from the John Templeton Foundation. He is
the editor of Human Cloning: Religious Responses (1997) and of
Beyond Cloning: Religion and the Remaking of Humanity (February
2001). He is the author of the popular baptism hymn, "Child of Blessing,
Child of Promise." He and his wife, Rebecca, have two daughters,
Sarah and Rachel.
