Biography

Robert Cook -Deegan, MD, University of Colorado (1979) BA Harvard College (1975). Director of the National Cancer Policy Board (Institute of Medicine, IOM) and Commission on Life Sciences (National Academy of Sciences). Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Investigator at the Kennedy Institute of Ethics, Georgetown University. Currently writing a primer on how national policy decisions are made about health research. Director of IOM's Division of Biobehavioral Sciences and Mental Disorders (1991-94). Worked for the National Center for Human Genome Research 1989-90. Acting Executive Director of the Biomedical Ethics Advisory Committee of the US Congress 1988-1989. Author of the Gene Wars: Science, Politics, and the Human Genome.
