Biography

Ilia Delio, Ph.D., is Assistant Professor in the department of Ecclesiastical History at the Washington Theological Union. She originally obtained a doctorate in Pharmacology at UMDNJ-Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences where she concentrated in the area of spinal cord research. She later pursued a postdoctoral fellowship in the Neurotoxicology laboratories at Rutgers University. Following her scientific career she pursued graduate studies in theology at Fordham University where she obtained the doctorate in Historical Theology in 1996. She has published two books on the medieval Franciscan theologian, Bonaventure of Bagnoregio, as well as numerous articles in theological journals.
