Biography
Annibale Fantoli holds a doctorate in Astronomy from the State University “La Sapienza” in Rome and licentiate degrees in Philosophy and Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University. After spending thirty years in Japan, mainly as Professor of History and Philosophy of Science, he is at present Adjunct Professor in the Department of Philosophy of the University of Victoria (Canada). He is the author of Galileo. For Copernicanism and for the Church, Studi Galileiani ( Vatican Observatory, third edition, 2003); Galileo and the Catholic Church: a Critique of the "Closure" of the Galileo Commission Work, Studi Galileiani (Vatican Observatory, vol. 4 n.1); Il caso Galileo (Milano: Biblioteca Universale Rizzoli, 2003).
