AAAS Dialogue on Science, Ethics and Religion
Supporting Scientists

An important part of the DoSER program's work is to engage more scientists in the science and religion dialogue. Neuroscience, astronomy, and genetics are just a few of the subjects on which scientific and religious perspectives may diverge, yet many scientists are unclear about how the concerns of the religious public relate to their work. The rising tension between science and society along with the growing voice of "scientific atheism" indicate that increased understanding and participation by the scientific community is vital.
DoSER is producing a range of resources to provide scientists with information and insights into how the religious public views science. This project aims to enable scientists to better address religionrelated questions from students and the public, and how to present research in ways that are sensitive to religion-related concerns.
