News & Events: Public LecturePhysics, Metaphysics and Meaning
29 March 2001
How a world-view that takes seriously present-day understandings of fundamental physics and cosmology, can also relate to issues of ethics and meaning arising in personal and communal life. Questions of evidence and explanation and the scope of data relevant to the enterprise of metaphysical understanding of the human predicament will thus be engaged. The speakers will also discuss issues of ontology and reductionism, and how a broad view of these features does not necessarily prevent the human search for meaning that some characterize as the 'spiritual quest'.
