Capabilities Overview
The Research Competitiveness Program (RCP) manages peer review projects addressing a wide spectrum of topics related to science and technology research, development, and innovation. Our peer review process is individually-tailored to accommodate the specific needs and goals of each project. To ensure the highest quality review, each project is managed by an RCP senior staff member who recruits external experts to provide independent, objective evaluation or guidance on the task at hand.
A project typically begins with a phone call or e-mail to discuss a concept or need with a senior member of the RCP staff. After working with the client to establish goals for the project and a statement of work, AAAS identifies potential experts for participation on the project.
RCP maintains a network of experts from a broad range of disciplines in science, engineering, innovation, and science policy. Potential consultants are identified through this network and through databases, internet resources, referrals, and volunteers. Consultants are screened to meet the needs of each project and to avoid potential conflicts of interest. Subsequent to a review and final approval of consultants, AAAS recruits the experts, directs and manages the effort, and provides the agreed upon deliverables.
