Edward G. Derrick, Ph. D.
Director, Research Competitiveness Program

Edward G. Derrick directs the Research Competitiveness Program, which provides review, evaluation and guidance to the science and engineering community on the development of quality research programs. He's been with the program since 1998, when he joined as a Program Associate.

Ed's academic experience includes two years at Humboldt University in Berlin as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow. He holds the Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin, with a dissertation in theoretical particle physics, and the Science Bachelor from MIT, with a thesis in biophysics. His work experience includes one and a half years as a nuclear design engineer for Ontario Hydro. Ed's publications include papers in refereed scientific journals, conference proceedings, software documentation and newspaper articles. Ed and wife Lynann are proud parents of Annabelle, born May 6, 2003 and Philip, born May 8, 2006.
