Through Direct Assistance, the Research Competitiveness
Program provides expert advice on the development
of quality research programs. Upon request, RCP can
tailor and lead a team of consultants on short-term,
focused assignment to address issues surrounding competitiveness.
Topics have included guidance in developing expertise
in a particular discipline; reviewing departments,
interdisciplinary programs, or major research initiatives;
assisting the process of strategic planning for research;
and reviewing infrastructure needs.
This service
was established under the EPSCoR project, and maintains
a keen awareness of the issues surrounding research
in EPSCoR states. Since 1999, RCP has offered the
same direct assistance service on a fee-for-service basis to other states and institutions through our
Research Competitiveness Service.
During the year 2000, the EPSCoR direct assistance service was merged
into this program.
