Forum on Science and Technology Policy is the conference for people interested
in public policy issues facing the science, engineering, and higher education
communities. Since 1976, it has been the place where insiders go to learn what
is happening and what is likely to happen in the coming year on the federal budget
and the growing number of policy issues that affect researchers and their institutions.
Come to the Forum, learn about the future of S&T policy, and meet the people
who will shape it. The 2009 Forum will be held 30 April and 1 May 2009
(Thursday and Friday) at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center
in Washington, DC. The 2009 Program will include: - Keynote address
by the Assistant to the President for Science and Technology and Director, Office
of Science and Technology Policy (invited) - Overview of the Obama Administration's
proposals for research and development in the FY 2010 budget - Many other
topics, such as: -- The political and economic outlook for science and technology
in 2009, including the congressional context, policies on innovation and competitveness
and economic recovery -- Energy and international climate policy developments --
Integrity in science in the new administration -- Science and the regulatory
agencies -- Toward an evidence-based science policy --Scientific literacy
and the future of science journalism - The William D. Carey Lecture, an
invited address by a notable figure in S&T - Reception Thursday evening,
