Mark S. Frankel, Ph.D., directs the Scientific Freedom, Responsibility
and Law Program and is responsible for developing and managing AAAS activities
related to science, ethics and law. He serves as Staff Officer to two
AAAS committees--the Committee on Scientific Freedom and Responsibility
and the AAAS-American Bar Association National Conference of Lawyers and
Scientists. He is editor of Professional Ethics Report, the Program's

Deborah Runkle is a Senior Program Associate and the Associate
Staff Director of the National Conference of Lawyers and Scientists. Her
areas of interest are issues related to science and law and science and
society. She is the Program Manager of Court Appointed Scientific Experts.

Jennifer Sta.Ana serves as Program Assistant, Webmaster, and Deputy Editor of the Professional Ethics Report. She graduated from UCLA with a B.S. in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology and a minor in Political Science. She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Religious Studies at Georgetown University, where she explores how ethics engendered by religious thought influence science policymaking. email: jlstaana@aaas.org
Cristina Kapustij graduated from Oakland University with a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Russian Language and Civilization. She is currently pursuing her Master of Science degree in Biotechnology at Georgetown University. She is interested in promoting dialogue between scientists and government as well as scientists and the public in order to create an environment of informed individuals who will embrace scientific progress.
Stephanie A. Heath is a senior at Michigan State University, James Madison College. She is working towards her degree in Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy. She has recently started studying Spanish, German and Italian. After graduation, Stephanie hopes to continue her education by starting Graduate School where she will study Science Policy in hopes of promoting safe and healthy uses of science/technology.
