PRACTICUM DESCRIPTION

In anticipation of a new federal-wide definition and policy for research misconduct, come join your colleages at a one-and-a-half-day practicum on research misconduct where participants will have ample opportunity to obtain hands-on experience and interact with colleagues and government officials. The practicum will help improve understanding of policies, procedures and methods for responding to allegations of research misconduct. Topics to be covered include the revised definition of reseach misconduct and policy for pursuing allegations, what to do when someone brings an allegation, who should be involved, what evidence needs to be gathered, how to conduct an inquiry and investigation, how institutional regulations relate to those of the federal government, how to secure and retain records, and who to inform of the outcome. The practicum will consist of both plenary and breakout sessions, and will feature opportunities to converse with speakers experienced in dealing with cases at institutions as well as government officials responsible for implementing federal regulations. |
