Human rights and research ethics; different standards for countries that cannot afford treatment that would be required under the standard of care in wealthier countries-is it ethical or not, what does it mean to say that a country cannot afford a certain treatment for its people when the price of treatments is not fixed by God or physics but by people in wealthy countries with a particular set of interests and values?

12:45- 2:15 Lecture and discussion: Within group diversity-dealing with the fallacy of monolithic identity (what are appropriate ways to use data about how people of a certain racial/ethnic group generally respond to a situation, or what people of a certain racial/ethnic group generally believe? Address the need to be attentive to the multiple social spheres and personal experiences that constitute any individual's identity.)
