Background: My colleagues and I are studying the geological, paleobiological, and archaeological records of human origins and evolution in the Middle Awash study area of Ethiopia's Afar Rift. 

Question 1: What fuels your passion for your work?
Answer: Curiosity. 

Question 2: Share a comment or opinion you have on a topical science-related issue.
Answer: Climate change happens.  This time it's different, being driven rapidly by a single primate species. 

Question 3: Tell us about a hobby or passion outside of work.
Answer: Cats. 

Question 4: What's playing on your iPod/music player?
Answer: Bob Marley. 

Question 5: Share a Web link/video/blog etc. that you found that really excites you and tell us why.
Answer: "Inside Job," a new documentary by Charles Ferguson, narrated by Matt Damon.  This comprehensive analysis of the global financial crisis of 2008 shows primates at their worst, and documentary filmmaking at its best.
