The AAAS headquarters building has long been a standout among green buildings. Recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council in 2009 when it became the first redeveloped structure in Washington, D.C. to earn a gold LEED rating, the AAAS headquarters building achieved platinum status in December 2013.

Visitors Entrance

All visitors should enter through the door at the corner of 12th St. NW and H St. NW

For this event, you do not need to check in at the security desk. Once you come in the 12th and H St. entrance, take a right and go past the elevator bank and the AAAS Art Gallery. Continue until you see a flight of stairs on your left, which you can take to the second floor. The conference rooms are at the top of the stairs. Please speak with the security officer if you need elevator access.

Accessibility

The entrances to the AAAS headquarters provide access to the building for people with disabilities. Elevator service is also available to every floor. If you have any questions about accessibility, please contact the AAAS Building Management Office at 202-326-6419 or speak with the security guard when you arrive.

Driving to AAAS

From Northern Virginia Take 395 North, keep left on to U.S. 1 (Downtown) toward 14th St NW in Washington. Continue onto 14 St. NW. Turn right onto New York Ave. NW.

From Maryland via 16th St. NW Take 16th St. toward Washington, D.C. and enter Blair Circle. Exit circle onto 16th St. NW. Take slight right toward Massachusetts Ave. NW. At Scott Circle NW, take the 4th exit onto Massachusetts Ave. NW. Turn right onto 13th St. NW. Turn left onto New York Ave., NW.

From Maryland via US 1 South Take US 1 South/Rhode Island Ave. into the District. Turn left onto US-29/11th St. NW. Turn right onto K St. NW. Keep right to stay on K St. NW and then turn left onto 13th St. NW. Turn left onto New York Ave. NW.

Parking

There are several public parking garages located nearby, as well as metered street parking.

Public Transportation

AAAS is located by Metro Center Station on the red, orange, blue and silver lines or via Metrobus. You can use Metro's Trip Planner to plan your route.
